Andozane, a longtime friend pointed me towards a Canadian sculptor named Alex Garrett. Alex did a fine job creating a miniature for their game club, so I contacted Alex for some specifics on his services and examples of his previous work. Here is his response, including pricing and several samples of his work.
I’ve done commercial work for IMPACT! Miniatures , the NAF, and Ordo Fanaticus, as well as lots of custom work.
IMPACT!’s gnome range are all my creations, and my Deadwood Treeman was nominated one of the Top Ten gaming products of 2007 by Tabletop Gaming News.
My skills are also at your disposal – from one-of-a-kind hand-sculpted originals to entire armies of converted troops.
If you need it built, I can build it. If you need it sculpted, I can sculpt it. If you need it painted, well, you get the idea 🙂
I work in “ProCreate” epoxy putty over metal armatures for my original pieces, so my work stands up well to tabletop use or for casting purposes
My rates vary depending on whether you need sculpts for commercial production (high end of the scale) or just really want a model made of that drawing you did. (lower end)
For example a handmade, painted 28mm figure would cost around $40 dollars Canadian for a collector, 100 if it’s getting cast. Prices do not include shipping. For larger pieces, the price would go up, depending on how
ambitious your designs are.
Below are some samples of Alex’s work. Click on the images for larger versions. Fair warning, the large images are about 1 megabyte each.
I do not get any financial benefit from any sales this post generates. I just think Alex does good work and thought you, my loyal readers, would be interested.
